I did it!!

Okay, as you all know, I am a complete newbie at this blogging thing - I'm still trying to figure out how to get a list of all of the people that I follow on that sidebar thing on the right hand side. One of these days I'll get it.

But look! Yup, over there on the right ----->

See that orange button?

I did it!! After reading the latest post from Cassie over at YouGoGirl, I wanted to join in her sew along for the cutest crochet-edged pillowcases. How better to show my support than by putting her button on my blog.

I didn't think that I could do it, but I did!

Okay, I know this post makes me lame, but hey, I'm excited.

'Till next time,
Mrs. M.

Spring hasn't sprung yet

Last week I wanted to get outside and take some pictures of my spring bulbs which had just decided that it was safe enough to poke their little heads out of the ground. I was a little premature and before I could grab my camera and head outside, Mother Nature decided that we needed another six inches of snow. It appears to be thawing a little now (I'll say that quietly so MN doesn't overhear), and this afternoon we headed out with our neighbors for a walk. We even saw the sun!

Remember all of my grand quilting plans from my last post? They were put on hold for a much more important task - pattern testing! Dawn from Olabelhe kindly asked if I would be willing to test one of her new patterns and I jumped at the opportunity. The results are over on her blog http://olabelhe.blogspot.com/ If you need a pattern for a special Easter dress, this will be it! As for those quilts, I've completely lost momentum and now have a pile of semi-assembled blocks which are staring at me as I type. Does anyone have a pattern that needs testing?!

Taking the plunge

Well, I've finally gone and done it. I'm blogging. Who knows if you'll be interested in what I have to say, after all, I'm 'only' a SAHM stationed in Germany. I love to craft, especially sew - mostly clothing for Miss M - but every once in a while I surprise myself with something different. Like this wallhanging. It is for Master M's cub scout charter to say thank you for supporting us. I'm not a quilter by any stretch of the imagination, so this was somewhat out of my comfort zone. Can I just say, I hate quilt binding? I'm sure that I'm not the only one out there, but I can never get it to line up properly on both sides.

After I finished making this, I spent the rest of my Sunday sewing up a Valentine's cushion for the bench in our entryway. There is a story behind this bench that I will save for another day, but I continued with the quilting theme and stitched up a paper-pieced heart pillow from http://www.youcanquiltthis.com/ I love all of their sites and could easily forget important things like cleaning and meal preparation and sew all day - oh, that's exactly what I did do today - whoops!

The next project on my list is to finish another quilt (did I mention that I'm not a quilter?) for Miss M. At this rate she won't have any new clothes to wear, and I don't think that a quilt wrapped around her and secured with a couple of safety pins will suffice. Luckily it's another quick project as I have lots of ideas and yummy fabrics to work with for some cute dresses - all for Miss M, of course.

In the mean time, I'm off to do a little reading before bed. Two more of my favorite things (books and sleep). I also like food (love food), baking, and looking for bargains.

Come back soon,

Mrs. M
